How-To Guide

Settings & Account

Manage your account, connect Google Contacts, set your timezone, handle billing, and configure email capture.

Settings overview

Settings is where you configure your rivo account — connecting external services, managing your plan, and personalizing how rivo works for you. Open it from the navigation menu.

Profile

Your name and email address. These are set during signup.

Email Capture

Your unique capture address for forwarding emails to rivo.

Google Contacts

Link Google to enrich your connections with contact info.

Timezone

Set your local timezone for accurate due dates and scheduling.

Billing

Your plan, trial status, and payment management.

Google Contacts

Linking your Google account allows rivo to look up contact information for people mentioned in your captures. When you mention "Jennifer Westbrook" in a capture, rivo can automatically pull in her email, phone number, and company from your Google Contacts.

  1. Go to Settings and find the "Google Contacts" section.
  2. Tap "Connect Google" and sign in with your Google account.
  3. Grant read-only access. rivo only reads your contacts — it never modifies, adds, or deletes anything in your Google account.
  4. Done. Enrichment happens automatically for new and existing connections.

Read-only, always. rivo requests contacts.readonly permission only. Your Google Contacts are never modified. rivo uses them purely as a lookup source to enrich your connections with emails, phone numbers, and titles.

How enrichment works

When rivo finds a match between a connection and a Google Contact, it fills in missing fields (email, phone, title, company). It never overwrites data you've already set manually.

Uncertain matches need your approval. If rivo finds a Google Contact that might match but isn't certain (e.g., "Lisa" could be "Lisa Park" or "Lisa Chen"), it shows you the match as a pending suggestion. You choose which one is correct.

Email capture address

Your capture email address is displayed in Settings. Tap the copy button to copy it, then save it as a contact in your email app for easy forwarding.

For complete details on using email capture, see the Email Capture Guide.

Timezone

Setting your timezone ensures that "Due Today," "This Week," and other time-based features work correctly for your location. Without the right timezone, a task due "today" might show up a day early or late.

Set this early. Your timezone affects task due dates, Inbox sections, and capture timestamps. Set it in Settings as soon as you create your account.

Billing & plan

rivo offers a free 30-day trial with full access to all features. After the trial, you'll need a PRO plan to continue using rivo.

Free Trial

$0 / 30 days

Full access to everything

  • Unlimited captures
  • All extraction features
  • Ask rivo & Documents
  • Email capture

Managing your plan

In Settings, you can see your current plan status, trial days remaining (if applicable), and manage your payment method. Upgrading to PRO is a single tap.

Your data is always safe. If your trial expires before you upgrade, your captures and connections are preserved. You just can't create new captures or use Ask rivo until you subscribe.

Contact import

Import contacts in bulk from a CSV file. This is useful when you're setting up rivo for the first time and want to bring over your existing contact list.

For complete details, see the CSV Import section in the Email Capture Guide.

Pro tips

Connect Google first. If you use Gmail, connecting Google Contacts should be one of the first things you do. It means every person you mention in captures gets automatically enriched with their contact details.

Set your timezone immediately. Before you create your first capture, set your timezone. This ensures all date-based features (due dates, Inbox sections, "today" calculations) work correctly from the start.

Save your capture email as a contact. Copy your capture address from Settings and add it to your email contacts as "rivo Capture." This makes forwarding emails to rivo as easy as typing "rivo" in the forward field.
