How-To Guide

Ask rivo

Have a conversation with your own knowledge base. Ask questions, get briefings, and surface insights you'd otherwise miss.

What is Ask rivo?

Ask rivo is a conversational interface to everything you've captured. Instead of searching and scrolling through captures, you can simply ask a question and get an answer drawn from your own data.

It works like a chat — you type a question, and rivo responds using the facts, tasks, sentiment, and context from your captures. It's like having a personal assistant who's read every note you've ever taken.

Your data, your answers

Responses are grounded in your captures — facts, tasks, sentiment scores, and relationship history.

Real-time streaming

Answers stream in word by word so you don't have to wait for the full response.

Connection-aware

Mention a person, company, or project and rivo pulls in all their context automatically.

Getting started

There are three ways to open Ask rivo:

  1. Sidebar navigation: Tap "Ask rivo" in the left sidebar (desktop) or bottom navigation (mobile).
  2. Header icon: Tap the chat bubble icon in the top navigation bar from any page.
  3. Connection detail page: Open any connection's detail page and tap the chat icon in the header. This starts a conversation pre-loaded with that connection's context.

Starting from a connection is powerful. When you open Ask rivo from Jennifer Westbrook's page, rivo automatically includes all of Jennifer's facts, tasks, sentiment, and history in the conversation. You can ask "What are her biggest concerns?" without any setup.

Brief Me

"Brief Me" gives you a comprehensive summary of a connection — their current status, recent activity, outstanding tasks, and relationship health — in one response.

Brief me on Jennifer Westbrook
Jennifer Westbrook — CEO, Westbrook Industries

Current status: Website redesign project is in the final review phase. Jennifer approved the initial mockups two weeks ago and is waiting on inner page templates.

Open tasks (3): Send revised proposal by Friday, schedule stakeholder review call, prepare Q1 metrics deck.

Sentiment: Slightly declining over the last week — she expressed concern about timeline slippage in your most recent call.

Suggested action: Proactively share a timeline update to address the delay concerns.

How to trigger Brief Me

You can trigger a briefing in two ways:

Use Brief Me before every client call. In 15 seconds you'll have their full context — what was discussed, what's pending, and how they're feeling. No more scrambling through old notes.

What to ask

Ask rivo works best when your questions reference specific connections, projects, or timeframes. Here are some examples:

Good questionWhy it works
"What did Kevin Zhao say about the permit timeline?"Specific person + topic — rivo can find the exact facts
"What tasks are overdue for the Henderson renovation?"Project-scoped — filters to one project's tasks
"Who have I not talked to in over two weeks?"Relationship health — surfaces neglected connections
"Summarize everything about Pinnacle Properties"Company-wide briefing — pulls facts, tasks, people, sentiment
"What are Lisa Park's biggest concerns?"Sentiment-focused — surfaces negative facts and declining trends
"What happened last week?"Time-scoped — summarizes recent captures across all connections

rivo only knows what you've captured. If you never mentioned a topic in a capture, Ask rivo can't answer questions about it. The more you capture, the more useful your answers become.

Chat sessions

Every conversation is saved as a session. You can return to any previous session to continue the conversation or review past answers.

Automatic naming

Sessions are named based on the first question you ask. No manual labeling needed.

Session history

Your session list appears on the left (desktop) or as a dropdown (mobile). Tap any session to reopen it.

Delete sessions

Swipe or tap the delete icon on any session to remove it. This is permanent.

New session vs. continuing. Start a new session when you're changing topics. Continue an existing session when you want to follow up on a previous answer — rivo remembers the full conversation context within a session.

Pro tips

"Brief me" before every important call. It takes 15 seconds and gives you complete context — facts, tasks, sentiment, and suggested actions. You'll never be caught off guard.

Ask follow-up questions. After a briefing, dig deeper: "What specifically did she say about the timeline?" or "When was the last time we discussed pricing?" Each follow-up uses the full session context.

Use it for meeting prep. "What do I need to know before my call with Pinnacle Properties?" pulls together everything relevant — open tasks, recent conversations, relationship health, and pending items.

Start from the connection page. The chat icon on each connection's page pre-loads their full context, making your questions instantly more precise.
